anybody know where i can get such a thing?

is it a special pot or is it jus tsome fancy way of wiring normal
    pots?

substitute the tone knob for a pickup blender....

anything i should know before i try to install it? Really tricky
    wiring or simple?

If I remember correctly, you basically run the hot output of a pickup to a
pot and the output to the master volume. You can do it from the point where
the hot wire is soldered to the three way switch. Then, when your switch is
set to the other pickup, you can use the pot to blend in the volume of that
one. Here's a schematic on how it is done to a Strat:
    http://www.fralinpickups.com/schm-stratblend.htm

With your Tele there is another option. You could eliminate the tone
control and use the pot for a second volume. Run each of your pickups to a
different volume and then to the switch. Then you can blend them any which
direction and you eliminate a tone sucking control.

i think the tone control is pretty important on a tele unless you want your
    ears bleeding all the time.

You can buy a blend Pot from Torres Engineering, with instructions on how to
wire it for a Stratocaster (www.torresengineering.com). You just have to
wire it in the same way, ignoring the fact that the middle pickup is not
there. But it will not work when BOTH pickups are selected in the middle
position cause they are 'hard wired' for full output together via the
selector switch , and will work when either the bridge or neck is selected
individually. I think you would miss the tone control on your Tele if you
replaced it with a Blend Pot.

Two volume controls on a Tele is not a good thing, either. You will end up
with the Les Paul syndrom of having the two controls interact when both
pickups are selected and you will roll off the volume of both when you roll
    down either one.

I like this interaction and have learned to control it well. I'd miss it if
    it weren't there.

Get one of those Dyno Labelmakers, and make a "speed" label. It'll do
wonders for your "tone" //control\\, indeed.
