If you are using any advanced graphics filters set from advanced display properties or from a separate control applet, try disabling them. Look around for digital vibrance settings to diminish or disable, antialiasing settings, anisotropic settings, etc.

When I had my first sims, I started downloading hundreds of skins. I downloaded a few that were infected  and I had alot of graphics trouble. Perhaps that could be your problem?
