"What's a loop"...... well now..... I would assume, for your application, a loop would be a MIDI or a portion of a MIDI that plays again and again..... preferably constructed in a way that leaves the beginning/ending undiscernable....
    OR
When someone is sequencing a MIDI a loop is often a tool that the sequencer uses to play a section again and again while recording/adding parts....

Have I hit on the right use of the word yet?!?!

    loops

i'd have to agree with the second option, a loop being a short piece of midi that is played over and over, with each playing recording a new piece of part over the previous playing...
