    Is there a utility that will process a set of MIDI files and adjust them so that they all playback at approximately the same volume?

    Thanks,

    I found a program called 'midi fixer' out there that adjusts the relative volumes of all the midi tracks (raising them all or lowering them all in direct proportion to each other) but it doesn't change the velocities of the notes. You might want to check this out. Here's a link for the program. Midi Fixer

    Just checked the link and it's not working at the moment but maybe the servers down right now.

    If anyone tests this program please post here to let us all know how it works.

    It looks like a 'demo version'...you'll probably have to pay for it after 30 days or so.....but thanks for the link mate

    Yeah Pol, it's definitely a demo. Only works on like 10 songs or something like that. But if it's good then it may be worth the $5 for the license. If it saved me time I'd pay for it if it worked. Of course it's also nice just being able to figure out how to go in and write or tweak the midi files without a program doing it for you automatically. I wouldv'e never been able to do that without everyone's help here.

    I have noticed the same type problem with the volume. Only, it's not only on the cell phone. I make the song myself in Cakewalk and I adjust the velocity to 127 and the volume, but it doesn't get any louder, not even on my computer. If anyone knows why, please lemme know.

    scotty3x3--
    Just a guess but you may have to go into the event view and see if the volumes are already set as events. This will override any velocity or volume settings that you may make...

    @scotty

    maybe the controller #11 (expression) is set to a low value. i often realized the prob in midifiles playing one after the other. if a fade out is programmed it could been made by lowering ctrl#11 step by step.

    a good way seems to make a set of initialisation controllers @ the top of each track you record.

    other idea: if filters are available on your soundmodule, maybe they are set to a very low cut frequency. try a gm/gs/xg reset.

    hope i could help
