Which OS is best for/at what?

If you mean as a desktop PC I would say windows 2000 or windows xp.

:: fixed spelling for 'Linux' in Poll options ::

It really does depend on what you're using your system for. For servers, programming/development - Linux (hands down), for graphics and Audio - MAC... For developing high blood pressure and decreasing the amount of hair you have - definately use Windows.

I use dual boot on my main machine (Windows 2000 Pro) and Linux Mandrake. My (server) machine is running Linux RedHat 9.0 at the moment, but I'm probably going to switch back to Mandrake or to Gentoo on that too. My other machine (games for the kids) is running Windows XP Corp...

RedHat, Mandrake, SuSe, Gentoo, Slackware, ETC are all distribution of Linux.

I like linux for everything except playing games. Since most game manufacturers design based on Windows.

This is question is just too hard, because it depends on what you do, and what you want to do on it.

Windows XP is the standard, but I voted for Mac due to its stability and the fact that there a never any viruses to worry about.
