Linux seems the best to me in terms of security wise. Hackers all target microsoft softwares. And the activeX in the explorer always attract all the adwares and spywares.

"Windows is the best because everyone uses it!!!" :p

I went for Linux, but I've yet to get to try the new Mac's.

So much ME hate, at least give it a cardboard sword to defend itself =p

People are reading the question as "Which operating system is the easist." although it has a steep learning curve, Linux is by far the most powerful operating system on the planet. Its kernel was originally released on October 5, 1991, and has been improved upon year after year since late December of 1993. In comparison, the Windows 98 kernel is the same kernel architecture as the one they used way back in Windows 3.0. Can't say much for improvement there. Did you know that you never have to pay a cent for the software of Linux? Linux also does have many optional graphical user interfaces that are very similar to Windows for the sake of user-friendliness for beginners. I voted Linux.

I'd say Win98SE... tried each and every one of those freakin' Windows versions, 'xcept for the older NT's(those below 4.0) and the versions below 3.1 and I also got to use a lot of Mac's and yeah, Win98SE, coz even though it crashes a lot, it is not too stylish nor too much of a harddrive eater and yeah, it actually loads faster than WinXP when you've already installed lotsa progs and yeah, it is very much compatible to almost every software on the market, except for those designed for XP and 2000 ones... anyways, I run a dual boot system and I got XP to do that, and I only use WinXP for those progs I can't run on 98... but yeah, Win98SE's got to be the one...

I can't believe you guys never even gave an option of any of the BSD's. The linux license (GPL) is very viral! However, the BSD license is extremely short and not limited in any ways. Just a thought of what you could have put on the poll...
