I use MIDI Orchestrator, a really old program. I don't even have a MIDI piano! I just use the piano roll on the program.

You might find your topic more effective in the General Sequencing > Software Sequencing forum.

Ahhh, I remember MIDI Orchestrator. That was the program that first got me into sequencing.

I use Cakewalk Sonar 2 now, but I'm looking to get either Cakewalk Sonar 3 and/or Magix MIDI Studio v.6.

I really like Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. I find it really easy to use (and it has to be considering my skills!)

I don't sequence midis in order to create new files, but what i do is modificate an existing midi to make a poliphonic ringtone for example. For this, I use Anvil Studio. Is very simple and it is easy to use

    I use Finale 2004a

I use Finale 2004a, but that's only because I need this program for lots of other things (arranging and scoring). I'm sure there are probably lots of cheaper, easier-to-use programs out there if all you need it for is MIDI sequencing. The one thing I do like about the Finale 2004a, though, is that once I'm done with it, I can save it as a .wav file and burn it right onto a regular audio CD.

The main thing is to have fun with whatever program you have. You can always upgrade later. I started out with Cakewalk, and that's an OK program too.

    Good luck!

p.s. I've attached one of my first MIDIs that I created with the Finale 2004a: Papa Loves Mambo.

I use a combination of an old version of Cakewalk and Propellerheads Reason.
