Why is it that there are so few .KAR sites? I was using MidiOke in 1995 and thought it would become very popular. What happened? Why aren't more people into this?

I was wondering that too. I use Winkaraoke, and I used to have loads of files for it, then my computer messed up and I lost them. Now I can't find them again. V annoying.

Vanbasco.com has a midi karaoke player and a midi search engine.

MidiKaraoke.com used to be a good place, but their selection has gone down and the mirror site that had the "good" organizational scheme is down.

A lot of those sites are under a lot of pressure for copyright--worse than regular midi sites because of the lyrics. Just like this site has made it much more difficult to post files, so have many of the others. Another karaoke site many of us really loved was Lerenti's ekaraoke. It got a lot of pressure and stopped posting new files. I sorely miss them as do many others. It's really too bad. They were too popular I think. Terry

You can use the P2P spftware like kazaa and morpheus to get hold of quite a few .kar files. I have mine shared :)

I like the vanbasco search engine, but it seems to assume the 'OR' boolean operator between words, so searching for specific songs can get mired in lots of obvious stuff.
