Most music shops will have guitars in all price ranges. You should be able to pick up a cheap strat copy for around a hundred dollars, maybe less

the best place for cheap guitars is definately your local pawn shop, or another good way is to check the classified ads of newspapers and such before christmas for people selling gear for money for the holidays, just after christmas when people are selling their old stuff, and a few months after x-mas when all the wanna-bes who got guitars for christmas and didnt have the paitence to learn to play

Check out E-bay if you have patience you can get some deals, also look into Musicians Network they have some great deals in there (via catalogue or online). Also, depending on where you live you may find Guitar Center has all price ranges including a used section. Music-Go-Round is a second chain franchise here in the States. Check out the local pawn shops and garage sales too!

That Fender Squire is a great sounding cheapie guitar too definitely worth looking into.

Try the website/Catalog Musicians Friend. They sell cheap packages that include Amp, Guitar, and picks for real cheap. Look them up and look through there inventory.

you could probably get a strat starter series pack for around that. I would also check ebay, ive found some really good deals on there with some really honest people who have offered to let me try the guitar and inspect it upon arrival.

I usually get all of my guitars from Pawn shops... of course this was before ebay started up. But even so, I would probably still prefer pawn shops to ebay... but I may try it one day.

The bass player in our band does all his trading through online bulletin boards and ebay. It seems like everyweek he has a new bass. I'm not sure he's had to pay for one except for the initial transaction.
