    I was just wondering why the people of this community like midis. I'm a little new to midi (not really when you think about all the video games I've played ). What I should say is that I'm new to the pop midi thing. I've got about 500MB of midis from I don't know what all I've got. Most of them are for not from rpg maker 2000. In fact that is why I midi. Y do U?

    I like the fact that there's an actual "definition" of the musical instruments in the file. I could use a program like FreeStyle to give me the sheet music version of the song and any musical instruments in it... :thumbsup:

    I midi strictly because i can upload them to my sprint phone for free.

    if it werent for that, i dont think i would midi at all.

    b4 the phone thing i used to think "midi wtf?. it doesnt even sound as good as the real song"

    i now know how much work it takes to actually create a midi.

    I appreciate midi alot more because of sprint.

    thankyou sprint.

    ok i am drifting now... better punch out maverick

    I use midis as a backing track for playing live. My main instrument is the bass, so the sequencer plays the midi files to pad out those parts with no band member (i.e. keyboards and drums)

    Yeah, I like MIDIs to put on my website. That way everyone can listen to the music relatively easily. I have Dial up, so whenever a huge MP3 is playing on a page, it takes a long while. -_-;

    They are smaller and they sound cool. Very fun to blast a midi and have everyone go "heh I know that tune."

    I too use midi for my phone i think they are way cool !!!!! and even better is the fact that i dont have to call one of those dodgy numbers and get charged OOOPER DOOOPER pennies to have a ringtone that i will be bored of in a months time. With midi i can pick and choose at my hearts desire and that way i have more dosh to spend on my bratlins..xx

    why I midi

    I use midi to practise my guitar playing
    when there is no live band to play with.
    I use calkwalk 9 to change the files
    to different music keys and volume levels
    and so on.......

    If you are new to music and you want to learn a tune, being able to read music is sometimes not enough, because of the note intervals and phrasing, especially if it's a piece you are not familiar with. By using midi and a sequencer, you can see how the music looks and hear how it sounds. You can slow it down until you are more proficient and then speed it up again. My personal favouite is the fact you can transpose the music into any key you choose, which for me is essential as I play the Saxophone and most music is written for the Piano/Guitar and I need music transposed into either Bb for Tenor or Eb for Alto.
