Why MIDI?

    I'm new here - can u explain why u guys are using midi files and not just composing mp3s or other file formats

    Sure no one listens midi music. You can view midi files with certain programs for example learn to play them with guitar, piano etc.

    Midi is a quick way to get some backing trax for musos.

    I work in a 2 piece band & midi allows us to quickly get new material for gigs. MP's take longer to download & aren't as easy to edit, i.e. change key, drop out instruments etc.

    mp3s are illegal and are huge for webpage use and midi makes perfect sense.

    I use midi's for cell phone rings, my phone can't do MP3's, yet ;)

    midis are for musicians...
    edit em using softwares and learn to play the same tune on a guitar or keyboard etc

    there small u can learn how to play them, good for converting into polyphonic ringtones, dont take up any space and take seconds to download, not many reasons really

    I'm still on dialup, so I like midi's because it doesn't take a day and a half to DL a song. It takes about a second. I love IT!!!

    Its obvious, because midis have really small file sizes! As simple as that!

    Use em in yer own programmed computer programs. It is way cooler (not) than mp3.

    Do anyone know if you can insert speech or lyric into a midi file?
